Luke Horton, MD, is a dedicated PGY-3 Dermatology resident at the University of California, Irvine. Luke has a passion for dermatology, with a particular interest in skin cancer diagnosis and treatment. Prior to his medical pursuits, Luke attended Claremont McKenna College, in California, graduating Cum Laude and with honors in the science and management major with an emphasis in biotechnology. Luke earned his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine where he earned numerous honors including membership in the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Medical Honors Society as well as the senior award in dermatology – given annually to the top dermatology applicant from that graduating year. His commitment to dermatology is evident through his research and clinical experience. His research interests are vasts including analyzing Medicare costs for various field therapies for actinic keratoses, exploring various cutaneous imaging techniques, using energy based devices for human skin, and exploring the virucidal effects of different wavebands of light and their usefulness in healthcare settings. Luke's comprehensive background and focus on skin cancer make him a promising figure in dermatology and he was recently recognized as a rising Dermatology Star at the Winter Clinical Dermatology Conference. Luke participates in multiple sports, including basketball, weightlifting, and yoga.
