Helana Ghali is a second-year medical student at the University of South Florida (USF) Morsani College of Medicine in Tampa, Florida. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
As one of the recipients of the Ronald Deconti Research Internship in the Cutaneous Oncology Department at Moffitt Cancer Center, Helana dedicates her research efforts to exploring the complexities of melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancers. Her goal is to enhance dermatological care by integrating scientific advancements with patient-centered practices through evidence-based medicine.
Helana has actively contributed to initiatives such as the Learn Skin Program, Mole Patrol, and Beautifully Unblemished Vitiligo Support Group to enhance knowledge and awareness of dermatologic conditions among her peers and the public. She has also served as the Student Leader in the Biomedical Research Scholarly Concentration, guiding her peers in pursuing research opportunities and networking within the medical community. Helana is also the Founder and President of the Orthodox Christian Medical Fellowship at USF Morsani College of Medicine, which she created to foster a supportive community for students while promoting the integration of faith and medicine.
