Hackensack University Medical Center
Margaret Chou was born and raised in New York and New Jersey. She attended Columbia
University for her undergraduate education, where she studied mechanisms of antibiotic
resistance in Pseudomonas aeruginosa and was a teaching assistant for the physiology course.
She then matriculated to the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She worked for a year as
a research fellow during medical school within the Interdisciplinary Melanoma Cooperative
Group under Dr. Iman Osman at New York University. There, she used artificial intelligence to
analyze pathological specimens and improve prognostication for patients with melanoma. After
starting dermatology residency within the Hackensack Meridian Health system and meeting
encouraging mentors, her current academic interests lie in laser medicine and cosmetics. She
has been named a Pfizer Rising Derm Star at the 2023 Fall Clinical Conference and has
presented her research at the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery annual
conference. In her free time, she enjoys weightlifting, baking, exploring new cuisines and
restaurants, and spending time with her friends and family.
