Dr. Spencer Hawkins is a double board-certified fellowship trained dermatologist, Mohs micrographic surgeon, and hair restoration specialist. Dr. Hawkins attended medical school at Wake Forest School of Medicine, where he received the Sulzberger Institute Grant from the American Academy of Dermatology to study the impact of web-apps in dermatologic surgery education. He continued to complete his dermatology residency at the University of Michigan. Following residency, he completed a Mohs micrographic surgery fellowship in northern Michigan, as well as ISHRS accredited hair restoration fellowship in Orlando. He also completed an American Society of Laser Medicine & Surgery (ASLMS) accredited preceptorship in cosmetic dermatology and laser medicine with Dr. Mathew Avram at Harvard Medical School / Massachusetts General Hospital. He is regular faculty speaker at internationally renowned conferences including Masters of Aesthetics and ASLMS. He has authored dozens of scientific research articles, academic poster presentations, and book chapters. He regularly participates in media interviews and has been featured in the Dermatology Times, The Dermatologist, Parents Magazine, and PopSugar.
Dr. Hawkins is most well-known for his presence on social media, curating the widely followed @cosmetic.derm on Instagram, which routinely features select dermatologists and cosmetic procedures to over 330k followers. He is a member of the social media work group for ASDS. He is the founder and editor of HairMedicine.org – an educational resource designed to educate patients and providers about different causes, symptoms, and treatment options for hair loss.
Dr. Hawkins lives with his wife, Victoria, an REI fellow at Mass General, in Boston. He currently practices at Advanced Dermatology & Cosmetic Surgery in East Greenwich, RI.
