    Steven S. Weiner, MD

    Mr. Steven Weiner is Senior Director of Innovation & Technology for the University of Pennsylvania, School of Engineering. He is also Lecturer for the Wharton School of Business, where he created and teaches a course on IP Strategy at Wharton for aspiring entrepreneurs. Steven earned his JD at Harvard Law School, a Masters degree in Computer Science at MIT, and an undergraduate degree in Systems Engineering at Penn.

    Steven has over three decades of experience advising companies and stakeholders on strategic decisions that require a deep understanding of IP law, advanced technology and business strategy. Steven has been fortunate to enjoy a very satisfying career blend of senior in-house and private firm roles, including: commercializing innovation for Penn Engineering; heading IP and strategic planning for R&D think-tank SRI International; leading Corporate Intellectual Property at Davis Polk; directing software and media IP strategy for Silicon Graphics; and serving as an IP litigator at Irell & Manell.

    Steven has built a strong professional focus on AI, algorithms, software, and digital media. He is co-inventor on seven issued United States patents, all in the field of artifical intelligence.
