Imran Rizvi is an Assistant Professor in the Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and North Carolina State University. He received his Ph.D. in Engineering Sciences from Dartmouth College and completed his postdoctoral training in the laboratory of Dr. Tayyaba Hasan at the Wellman Center for Photomedicine, Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School. He has co-authored 62 peer-reviewed publications and 6 book chapters on therapeutic applications of light, bioengineered 3D models and animal models of cancer, and survival mechanisms in tumors. He has served in leadership positions for several national and international organizations. He completed his B.A. from Johns Hopkins University and an M.S. in Tumor Biology from the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center at Georgetown University.
