Dr. Jerome M. Garden is a professor of clinical dermatology and biomedical engineering at Northwestern University and is in the division of dermatology at the Children's Memorial Hospital, Chicago. Dr. Garden has authored numerous articles and chapters on laser topics and is the recipient of various grants towards laser research. He has presented on many areas of laser research including laser-tissue interaction as it relates to cutaneous regeneration, vasculature, pigmented lesions, hair, fat, other clinical applications and laser plume and safety. He has been awarded a United States patent in the field of laser technology and has contributed in the development of several different laser systems and their applications. His current clinical laser research includes acne, dermal regeneration, fat, hair, cutaneous vessels and pigmentation. Dr. Garden has served as an active member of ASLMS since 1985, board member 1998-1999 and 2001, vice-president in 1999-2000 and 2002-2003, and president in 2004-2005. He also served as chair of the dermatology/plastic surgery program and poster session. He has been a member of the constitution and bylaws, finance, and hazards of laser plume/safety committees. Dr. Garden has organized and lectured at numerous laser surgery courses and medical symposia worldwide.
