Mayo Clinic Department of Dermatology
Dr. Chelsea Handfield is a PGY-4 dermatology resident at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. She completed medical school at Duke School of Medicine, and she received her Bachelors of Arts with Distinction, within the Neuroscience Track of Psychology from Yale University. During her time at Duke, she spent two years as a student researcher in the MacLeod Lab which focuses on skin immunology and microbiology. In 2019, she had the honor of presenting her research as a Plenary talk at the Society of Investigative Dermatology annual meeting. As a resident, she co-founded of the Skin of Color Journal Club and co-led a Quality Improvement project with a multi-disciplinary team whose aim is to increase access to and knowledge surrounding skin and hair care products for skin of color patients while admitted to the hospital. She is also an invited and accepted member of the inaugural training course meant to create the next generation of clinician educators that will be patient-centered clinicians, inspirational teachers, and servant leaders in medical education at Mayo Clinic and beyond. Upon completing residency, she will be joining faculty at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN as an Associate Consultant.
