Kimberly Ferlin, PhD: Kim Ferlin is a TAP advisor in the Total Product Life Cycle Advisory Program (TAP) in the Office of the Center Director in FDA’s Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH). As a TAP advisor, Kim prepares and educates innovators to productively engage with stakeholders within the medical device ecosystem and understand and mitigate the risks associated with device development. Prior to joining TAP, Kim served as a lead reviewer, team lead, and assistant director in the Office of Surgical Devices and Infection Control in CDRH, overseeing a team of reviewers responsible for premarket and postmarket review. Kim joined CDRH in 2015, following completion of her Ph.D. at the University of Maryland in bioengineering, studying tissue engineering and biomaterials. She received her BS in biomedical engineering from the University of Rochester.
