William D. Shipman III MD, PhD is a PGY-4 dermatology resident and postdoctoral fellow at Yale University interested in general and cosmetic dermatology, skin of color, and hidradenitis suppurativa. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Morehouse College and an M.D./Ph.D. in Immunology and Microbiology from Weill Cornell Medicine, combining a unique blend of clinical expertise and translational research.
His research includes prior and current work on exosomes in wound healing, autoantibody production in hidradenitis suppurativa, cytokine profiling in autoimmune skin diseases, and immune cells in lupus photosensitivity. His contributions have been published in prestigious journals, including first-author publications in Science Translational Medicine, the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, and the British Journal of Dermatology. As an active member of the community and several professional associations, Dr. Shipman continues to cement his role in shaping the future of dermatology, immunology, and scientific advancement.
